Welcome to Bureau of Meteorology!
The Bureau of Meteorology is the National Meteorological Authority for Australia. It is an executive agency of the Australian government that observes and understands Australian weather and provides meteorological services to Australia and even to surrounding areas as well. Established in the year 1906 under the Meteorology Act, the bureau then formally brought together all other individual state meteorological services that existed prior to that time and began its operation as a commonwealth agency on 1 January 1908. The Bureau was formally reestablished after the cancellation of the Meteorology Act of 1906 and was then supported by the Meteorology Act of 1955. From then on, the bureau became an agency that aims to provide services related to weather conditions that would be of public interest and information.
